    Dr. Pongsak Rattanachaikunsopon is a Professor in the Department of Biological Science at University of Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand. He obtained Bachelor of Science in Radiological Technology at Mahidol University, Thailand and a Master of Science in Anatomy at Mahidol University, Thailand. He earned Ph.D. in Molecular Biology at Lehigh University, Pennsylvania USA. He has been awarded with Professor Sood Saengvichain Award for Best Research and Presentation in 13th Annual Meeting of the Society of Anatomy of Thailand in 1990, Professor Dr. Tab Nilanidhi Foundation Award for the outstanding graduate student in Anatomy in 1991 and Best Government Officer, The Ministry of Education in 2014. He serves as an Editorial board member of more than 10 international Journals.

    Research of interest: interested fields of research are Molecular Biology, Microbiology and Biochemistry. His present research focuses on searching for biological agents such as microorganisms and plants to use as alternatives to control animal and human diseases caused by pathogenic bacteria.

    He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2003 and received his PhD from Department of Food Hygiene and Technology of the same faculty in 2008. In 2017, he was appointed as a professor at Kırıkkale University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Food Hygiene and Technology.

    He is the Head of the Biological Hazards Commission of the Risk Assessment Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, a member of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry COVID-19 Commission, a member of the Scientific Committee of the Turkish Veterinary Medical Association, member of Veterinary Food Hygenists Association, invited member of Turkish Society of Microbiology Bacteriophage Working Group, head of Accreditation Committee of Kırıkkale University, Quality Coordinator of Kırıkkale University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine,  as well as expert/evaluater of Turkish Higher Education Quality Council and Association of Vocational Education Evaluation and Accreditation (MEDEK)

    Among his duties in international institutions and organizations, he is exucutive committee member of Association Mediterranean Network of Establishments for Veterinary Education (REEV-Med), regional associate for the region of Middle East and North Africa of The Council on International Veterinary Medical Education - Association of American Veterinary Colleges – (CIVME - AAVMC), member of the Expert Panel of the Punjab University in Lahore and the Technical Evaluation Panel of the Hazara University in Mansehra, Pakistan.

    He served as a vice Dean and executive committee member of Kırıkkale University Faculty of Veterinary,  a member of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Department of Risk Assessment Contaminants Commission, an advisory board member of the National Red Meat Council (UKON), evaluater of Association for Evaluation & Accreditation of Education Institutions & Programs of Veterinary Medicine (VEDEK) and a columnist for a national newspaper for more than two years.

    He has national and international projects in the fields of food safety, characterization of foodborne pathogens, antibiotic resistance, and biocontrol of foodborne pathogens by bacteriophages. In the scope of this scientific studies he has publications, books, book chapters,  editorships, magazine columns, patent studies and awards.
